I haven't seen any of Shaggais 1-32, though.

I'm hearing that SP gave a nerf to Sultan pre-production: that during the doom phase, any unoccupied chaos gate turns into a normal gate

That seems pretty good. No one else cares about spaces with chaos gates, so it seems often they're just free spots to Psychosis into.

Cats get a buff, the spellbook requirement for a cat in every opposing start space no longer requires them to also have 1 doom. This means bombing everyone round one is now viable

Sandy Petersen just announced two buffs for Black Goat.
- Fertility Cult now says "You Summon monsters as an Unlimited Action" instead of merely saying you may Summon any number of monsters.
- The "Share areas with all enemy factions" spellbook requirement now gives Black Goat 1 power per enemy player when you fulfill it.

Re: Cthulhu Wars Stuff
Daemon Sultan has severe errata
- Thesis when Awakened simply causes each opponent to gain 1 power, or you may have one opponent gain 2 power. There's no option to hand out doom instead of power anymore.
- Antithesis no longer eliminates enemy cultists when Awakened -- Awakening him now causes a bad effect instead of a good effect. This means that cycling Azathoth at 0 cost is no longer a thing. Each opponent gains 1 doom, or you may have one opponent gain an elder sign.
- Synthesis, on the other hand, no longer hands out power to opponents when Awakened -- he now causes a good effect instead of a bad effect. It makes sense that he would hold the good effect instead of Antithesis, because Synthesis always costs 8 to get out. Roll the Azathoth die (3-8), and your opponents have two minutes collectively to decide how to lose that much power and/or doom. If they can't decide, you win the game. In a 2- or 3-player game, the die roll is cut in half.
Cosmic Ruler is clarified, it only saves your faction GOOs, and only by eliminating a faction GOO instead

Re: Cthulhu Wars Stuff
Errata for Bubastis
- Bastet herself costs 6 instead of 8
- If you use Catnapping on yourself, Bastet does not relocate
- Instead of Bastet's alternate ritual giving you 4 doom if you're with an enemy cultist, you must be with an enemy cultist to do it, and it always gives you 4 doom. This is nearly the same thing.

Re: Cthulhu Wars Stuff
if one person refuses to pay anything under any circumstances, the other players can play to avoid the refusing player kingmaking right?
Re: Cthulhu Wars Stuff
Right -- the way these reach-a-deal things work in Cthulhu Wars, a person can only object to a deal the other players have reached by asserting that they themselves pay more

Re: Cthulhu Wars Stuff
I received Cthulhu Wars Duel, and Cthulhu Wars Duel Extinction. These are two-player versions of Cthulhu Wars. They're far cheaper than the original game, because they don't come with minis. They just have cardboard pieces, and a much smaller board (in physical size, not in spaces)
Duel has Cthulhu and Black Goat and a map that is an expy of the normal Earth map (the names have been changed as though it were some sort of Arkham otherworld)
Extinction has Sleeper and Windwalker and a map that is an expy of Primeval
You can play a faction from one against a faction from the other, of course, making six matchups. He'll make all the other factions eventually.
The game is the same as Cthulhu Wars, except there are four fundamental differences in Duel:
1. You get doom for killing and eliminating enemy pieces. The doom is equal to the awaken/summon/recruit cost. If the unit has variable costs (Cthulhu, for example, is 10 or 4), you get the average (so, 7 in this case) rounded up. You don't get doom when the opponent eliminates his own pieces, for example the two cultists that are sacked to Awaken Shub.
2. To make up for the above, you do not get doom for controlling gates during the doom phase. You may still Ritual, though, and then this gives you doom and elder signs like before.
3. When one player runs out of power or Hibernates, the other player must pay extra power just to take a turn. There's no extra power cost for the first go after the opponent has run out of power or Hibernated, but then it's 1 extra the go after that, 2 extra the next go, 3 the next one, and so on. If you don't have this much power then you also go out. This means for example that taking five turns after the opponent has run out of power would cost you 10 extra power yourself, which is unlikely to be possible.
4. In a change from the original two-player rules, you no longer need all six spellbooks to win. If you get all six spellbooks anyway, this of course unlocks Unlimited Battle, but also unlocks it for the opponent (this last part is the same as before).

More nerfs for Daemon Sultan
- You can't Animate Matter with an uncontrolled chaos gate. You have to control the gate that you're moving
- Traitors no longer gives you an elder sign unless after removing your acolyte you now have zero units in the area
Presumably the second one was because of the whole Traitors-while-my-GOOs-are-there shenanigan
